Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin

Year: Senior
Height: 6 ft 7 in
Weight: 327 lbs.
School: Wisconsin
Birthday: June 3, 1988
Wisconsin has produced a lot of good offensive linemen, most recently Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas. Carimi is one of the most coveted linemen entering the 2011 Draft, but the biggest question is whether teams will project him as a left tackle or a right tackle. Right now the consensus is that the latter is the more likely option because Carimi is an excellent run blocker but needs some improvement in his pass blocking and his overall technique. Some bemoan his lack of solid footwork and lateral agility, so the right side might make more sense at least initially. Teams always covet left tackles but are less willing to draft high on a right tackle, so that could drop Carimi into the second round. But he will immediately improve any offensive line he becomes a part of.
